Here is an illustrative example. This person wants their growing business to support a life they can enjoy with their family.
A life worth building
- Body
- Have the strength and stamina for long walks and active holidays with my children.
- Mind
- Keep learning and make time to think about the direction of my business.
- Relationships
- Be fully present at dinner and enjoy an evening with my partner each week.
- Faith, values and purpose
- Give prayer and service a regular place in my life.
- Wealth
- Build a financial reserve and a business that gives me more choice over my time.
- Contribution
- Use what I learn to help younger people develop their own work.
Why it matters: I want my family to share in the life I am working to build.
Time and money: I can protect two evenings now. I still need to calculate the reserve that would let me reduce my working hours.
Question to research: Which recurring commitments could I change without weakening the business?
Choose one move for this week.
Look at what you wrote. Which change would make a meaningful difference now? Consider what it would require, whom it would affect, and whether it would support another part of the life you want.
In the example: protecting one evening from routine work would make room for time together. The first step is to review that evening’s commitments with their partner, choose a date and decide which work can move.
Write your own first step and when you will take it. Keep it specific enough to do. Afterwards, ask what it changed and what you want to adjust.
Keep building from here.
